I had an Sl1 mk2 for 6 years and now an Ultimate. I've never had any problems that seemed out of the ordinary. I know some preamps like the Audible Illusions modulus series eat tubes but never my CATs. I currently have Amperex 7308's and 12AX7 in the phono stage (which is where preamps usually eat tubes) and Mullard 4004 in the line stage and they've been going strong for the last 4 years. Kevin must have had some bad experiences lately because I have bought quite a few from him in the last 10 years and he's never said anything about warranty issues with me.
