I second the recommendation for Herbie's dampers. I've tried a variety of silicon o-rings. In some situations they can help a little. But Herbie's work excellently well in every situation. I use them prophylactically on all my tubes where I can even when I haven't ID'ed an audible problem w/ microphony. However, it is true that in some situations, such as when tubes are mounted close together, Herbies dampers won't fit.
