Johnsan,You may have already discovered it, but there is an EXCELLENT general reference doc in the FAQ's titled "Joe's Tube Lore". It's really difficult to suggest a tube without knowing what kind of atributes you value or find most attractive. Joe's may help stimulate thought on that. Also, you'll find the JJ's, the EH's, and Tesla's attainable for the budget you laid out, but the Valvo's and Tele's will be very difficult to find NOS for those prices and if you do find them at those prices ... get a guarantee. Do consider Siemens, and any of the many brands that were owned by Amperex (Mullard, etc.). And don't forget about the 7308's - a whole nuther animal w/in the 6DJ8 family.
