Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
Hello,I just moved to the San Francisco -Daily City area, and I am looking for tube services, someone who is honest and can do re-caps, diagnosis, check specs, that sort of thing. I have some vintage equipment and it's all running well but I put those projects together when I lived in a very low cost area. Of course, in the bay area everything is expensive, and it seems like if you are into something like tubes, it must mean you have a lot of money too, not the case here.
I did find this one shop here called L and M and they seem like they have a lot of experience, but somehow I doubt I could afford their services.
http://landmelectronics.net/default.aspIf anyone in this area is a vintage tube head and can tell me anything about them or any other basement shop or individual who works on tubes I would really appreciate it. I am expecting another tube project to arrive soon and I may need a good contact. I am aware of most of the major places that you can ship to for service but would prefer someone local in order to keep shipping costs out of the equation.
(You'd think by now I would learn this stuff myself but some how with my luck mixed in with high voltage, it's probably not a good idea:)
thanks for any info,
Jeff
