Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I've acquired two Super Silvertone type 45 tubes for use in my pair of Welborne DRD45 amps. I'm getting more volume from one tube than the other, with the 'weaker' tube (with the glass slightly loose in the tube base) producing similar volume as the TJ 45s they are replacing, and the other Silvertone louder. The effect is to pull the image on a mono recording halfway across from the centre towards one speaker. The problem follows the tube when I swap them.1. I want to understand which tube is faulty - is one producing moe volume than it should, or the other less?
2. Should all 45s, regardless of make, prodiuce more or less the same power output?
Can anyone help a novice with some advice? Thanks.
