EL34 SED/Winged C is fine, but use them with livelier front end tubes. Use EH 6922 (A.K.A. 6H23-EB) and some RFT 12AU7s.You might even prefer the tubes setup above if you use 6CA7 big bottle EH power tubes. They are more "dynamic" and lively than the SED/Winged C.
The tubes above are very reasonably priced too. Even the NOS RFTs are just a few dollars (literally) more than current production.
