I had that kind of problems in the early 90's with a pair of home brew KT88 amps. It turns out it was due to the chinese KT88 tubes I was using, they would go cherry red after an hour of playing and a fuse would blow. Replaced them with a quad of GE 6550A's and the porblem disappeared. Those home brew amps still exist but now they have had a quad of Svetlanas 6550C's (the ST Peterburg ones) for the past 5 or 6 years and have never blown a fuse.
