I bought a no name SE integrated amp an noticed that a 6CG7 was in the ECC85/6AQ8 spot. In the circuit the ECC85 is before the 6BQ5s and after a pair of 12AX7s. Any ideas why this might be used besides the fact that the pinout is the same? I'm a novice in this area and wanted to determine if this was a safe and practical alternative. I have since replaced it with an ECC85/6AQ8, but still curious.
Any wisdom on this is most welcome!
