Re: Osram markings

Hi ,
The web site say 'Extremely Rare!' which is a bunch of crap ! These valves are not extremely rare , there are plenty about but at a premium price and you can find these advertised far cheaper if you Google ;) Incidentally these A2900 were made for critical applications rather then the 12AT7 which was a 'garden tube' which found use within audio . One of the reasons why A2900 carries a premium is that these are still in use by the army , I believe the Clansman (possibly) set uses one of these in the front end . If you want to know the origins of your Marconiphone valves , compare them with a 9 pin Mullard and observe the bottle shape and see if there are any etch markings . More than likely what you have is a pair of MOV branded Mullard (or Brimar) ECC81 which will mean replacement will be a lot cheaper . The markings mean nothing , it is what's inside the valves that counts :)
