Finding Mullards and Amperexes is getting nearly impossible, and while they're great tubes, if you do find them they will be big $$$$$.

Instead, start by reading the Watford Valves survey of EL84 tubes (see link below), and the Almarro A205A Mk II review at http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/almarro4/mk2.html where I spend a fair amount of time talking about EL84 choices.

My favorites right now are the Harma E84L/7189A Cryo'd tubes from Watford Valves in the UK. I'm using them in both my TEAD Linear A and my Almarro A205A Mk I.
