I just found out that the Groove Tubes people have rejected an entire shipment of the 12AX7M "Mullard clones" (it's not on their web page now either). They were not happy with the quality of the tube, so they shipped 'em all back. They are made in China BTW.
That's a first class way to handle it! Are you reading/listening JJ??
If you read some of my earlier posts, you may remember the reject rate on those was pretty high, and I was hoping they'd get better. Well, it looks like that shipment wasn't what they wanted.
Anyway, the bad news is those will be very scarce for some time as a result. I was told 90-120 days before the next resupply.
Also, a kind of important suggestion - remove the tube pin protector from any GT 12AX7Ms you have on hand. They tell me it was responsible for some glass cracks near the bottom of the tube.
