Your choice of the ARC Ref 210 is a good one. I bought a pair of VM220s last year, prior to the release of the Ref 210, and I am very happy with my choice. I've had no urge to experiment with other tubes. With that many tubes, trying others would be tedious, expensive and chancey. I'm assuming ARC did reasonable research before they chose the tubes they used.
2000 hours sounds about right for the lifespan, same as the VM220. It does depend on how hard you push it.
I agree with elektron about the 845 211 triodes. That's a whole different area and would probably be matched with a whole different set of speakers. As elektron said, listen to the amp through your speakers before purchasing.
