I'm having trouble finding a pr of tubes to replace my old Sylvania 12ax7a. I first ordered some Solvtek 12ax7lps, put them in and no gain, tried a second pr same problem, then tried a pr of JJ's had some gain. Put back my old sylvania WOW. I dont understand why these new tubes dont have the gain of my old tubes. I went and got a Tube tester and the sylvania's go off the chart at 50, the JJ's at 35 the other were bad.
I wanted to try other tubes (this is for my Dynaco PAS3x) with new stock desighn board. (I had the same problem with gain on the old board)
ANy sudgestions. ANy hi gain 12ax7's for me to try. or should I jsut count my blessing with these sylvania's
