To me in my gear the clear tops are way too bright. I don't like them. But others with different gear do. So it all depends. Far and away my favorite is a raytheon american blackplate. But those are almost impossible to find. The sylvania balck plate with a chrome center divider are easy to find and have acceptable sound quality. I use them a lot.
