You're right. The PAs uses a voltage doubler, but most times I barely measure 20 volts coming out of the supply and it has to feed two tubes in series at 12.6 volts each. I haven't rebuilt using Schottky's, but using regular ultra fast diodes, I usually can get 23 to 24 volts out of the circuit. No need for a resister to drop voltages.
