I think you should build it all around the speakers you love the most. I have come to the point where I can't live without my big, efficient Tannoys with 12- inch dual- concentric drivers and 95db/ watt efficiency. These speakers sounded good with my Conrad- Johnson Premiere 12's, but the system takes me to the beyond with my Fi 300b monos. They make the system with the cj's sound as if it were thick- tongued and unbalanced. The clarity and sense of forward motion is astonishing for the kinds of music I like to listen to (most all, btw, with a heavy emphasis on acoustic jazz and Brazillian). There is no audible loss of dynamics or bass extension with the 300b's, and they sound louder and more room- filling. It is, simply, the best match, for me. Also, with one output tube per side as opposed to four, they are simpler to operate, cheaper, and they don't turn the room ino an inferno in the summer. Those CJ amps were great, don't get me wrong, and I am by no means a SET proselytizer. But the 300b's are a far better match for my speakers, to my ears. Amazing what 8 well- rendered watts can do. Again, consider your loudspeakers, first and foremost. My 2 cents, and best of luck to you-

P
