Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |

When testing power tubes, how long should I wait for the tube to warm up after plugging it in and turning on the tester?I am testing some EH KT88s and the first tube I let warm up for 3 or 4 minutes total. Along the way after about two minutes, I pressed the test button and got a reading, left it in and waited 20 seconds or so and retested just to make sure I had gotten the maximum reading. It was higher. It went up over the next 2 minutes or so and I took that reading, powered off and swapped the tube for the next one.
My question really is ; does this seem out of sorts? Normal, and if so, then how long do you other TV-7 users wait for the tube to warm up before taking a reading? Just looking for a rule of thumb type thing, not a hard and fast rule. I'm new to the tube testing part and still looking for assurances that I am going in the right direction.
Thanks,
Rob
