Input or output tubes affect sound the most in Power amps?

Do the input tubes or output tubes affect the sound the most in a tube power amp? Any help is appreciated cause I know diddley. I'm getting ready to get a couple of tube amps to try. Thinking CJ MV 55,60 and VTL st 85. I'd also consider an ARC but have read they are very close to SS. I did have an ARC pre and it's tube traits weren't as pronounced as I want in the mid/treble of my speakers. I'll be passive biamping.

Right now I have a Blue Circle BC 24 hybrid on it's way. I was afraid to try another pure tube amp because a Rogue 88 I bought popped then smoked after about 1 minute. I'm over my fears with an all tube amp but want a brand that makes solid equipment. The Rogue wasn't upto the build quality I'm used to seeing.
