Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |

I've got an old Magnavox 6V6 amp taken out of a console and had it playing for about ten minutes, then it started oscillating on one channel, then both channels started oscillating, so I turned it off. I checked the tubes (four 6V6, 6CA4, & two 6EU7) and all checked well. The transformers and the can cap were cool, but the two (100 & 180 ohm) resistors inside the chassis were hot to the touch.
Anyone have some suggestions as to what the problem may be and what to do to fix it? And if anyone knows what the adjustment knob next to the 6CA4 is for and where it should be set at, I'd appreciate some assistance with that too. Thanks for your help.
