I can attest to Chris' warning. I own a Hickok headset and have been electrically shocked on more then one occassion. Testers can have potentially lethal voltages, so I got lucky. The headsets can pick up noise and microphony to a very limited degree, but it is no where near as sensitive as a good line stage.
