You had not mentioned what amp you have or are looking into . That would be a good place to start.
I feel that the type of music you listen to also makes a difference but doesn't guaranty what your ultimate set up will be . For example I love the sound of the Quicksilver KT88 w Tungsol 6550s but missed the kick when I wanted to rock. So I stepped into Rogue Audio M120 and I really like it, I feel I am still searching for the right Tube compliment. The Teslas I'm using sound great but something is missing So I'll try a set of 6550 or even EL34 as soon as I can.
