I purchased the mc34-a integrated, used from the gon a few weeks ago. It was damaged in transit and suffered from distortion in one channel. I sent it to a local tech in Portsmouth, NH. (www.dcaudiovideo.com) I spoke with the tech after he had fixed the unit, and before I even had a chance to ask him his opinion about the build quality, he told me the he thought the amp was a "work of art." He could not believe the attention to detail and the craftmenship that went into it. He said he it seldom sees units like this that are are of this caliber. He was not afraid to tell me that he was not a big fan of tube designs so I don't believe he was blowing smoke. (HE brought it up before me anyway)
I saw some solen caps, and certainly a well thought out design when I peeked in after I heard the problem initially. But I was glad to hear that someone that looks at a lot of gear really thought highly of the unit.
The tech was pretty much blown away.
Just an FYI, I know I did the "search" a few weeks ago and saw some mixed opinion. The nature of cheap tube gear coming from china is always going to create some controversy.
