Steven: yes toroids have come up an they have been use and they do work. There was a suggestion of say ten 1H chokes spaced in series to make up a large value low capacitance choke as well as this might be less expensive and could get the capacitance down to perhaps 30 pf perhaps.
I have collected all the parts necessary including a set of very old Hammond 7 H chokes with which to check this all out. I dont think that the diaphragm modulating the supply is the major issue here. I think that proper supply filtering and snubbing is what is required. That said the choke may well prove to be very worth while in the end. Time and listening will tell. I hope to get to the bottom of this and with some help figure it out. I can say that those that I have talked to who have and do use a choke discribe the difference as a true transformation. So I am looking forward to finding out myself and will post the results. Best regaards for now Moray James.
