Steve,I made my recommendation based on the general characteristics of the tube, I've never heard the amp. It's just that the SED KT-88 leaves so much to be desired.
The 6550C SED is much better than the KT-88 SED, no doubt. I'd bet you a six pack it would improve that amp a bunch.
