You can try 7044s and Bendix 6900s in exchange for 5687s. As far as 5687s go, I liked NOS Tung Sol best. I have also tried RCAs and Raytheons. 7044s have a nice warm tone, except that many of them are noisey so you have to try many of thembefore you find the right one. I have found mixed results with the Bendix 6900 tubes. They are detailed and airy, but can sound slightly hard.
