6A3 ... do they sound nearly as good as 2A3 ?

I am told I might get a good deal on original NOS RCA 6A3 tubes.
I suppose around the usual price here ($10/20) each.
As far as I can tell from the spec sheets they are very similar
with it's famous and hyped cousin, the 2A3, except for the
filament voltage.
My question is: has anybody actually heard RCA 6A3's here?
If so, how do they compare to the original RCA 2A3 single
plate sound?
Because it is very easy for me to modify my amp to take them!
