Yes, the Sylvania VT-231/6SN7GT from the early 40s to the early 50s (bottom getter, tall bottle, T-plates) are good tubes. They have a good sense of air to their reproduction, with gorgeous top frequencies and a neutral midrange. The main drawback to the 40s vintage is they are lacking in deep bass. Some people contend that the 50s vintage (particularly 1952) have all the good attributes of the 40s vintage but with the major difference that these later productions actually had great bass. Whatever the truth/perception is, this particular 6SN7 design is a good one.
