Thank you for your comprehensive and detail reply. I have not tried NOS as there are lot of fake NOS floating around the market. I recently tried the New Sovtek 12AX7LPS on my phono stage and found that it suits my setup better than the EH 12AX7. The improvement is immediately audible and they are cheap. Will put it in my line stage as well. I'll keep you posted....Cheers
