Bizarre... and amusing. The claim made that they are "The best amplifiers of all time bar none, etc etc" in the 8 WPC class is a clue; anyone well acquainted with Big $ audio and the people who buy it would know how poorly the "best" word goes over. That the guy seems to think Ampex and Amperex are the same company, or at least that a tube LABELED Ampex was made by Ampex rather than just LABELED Ampex ("They were made by Ampex, or at least have a lot of Ampex tubes") is VERY revealing. Put simply, these are 8 watt amps. You can get pretty damn convincing sound at the 8 watt level with the Bottlehead Parabees for $1600. If your budget stretches to $25,000, you could likely erase the thought of a $250 audition from your mind without a 2nd thought.
