Known for shorting heater-cathode. If you use a separate winding or transformer, it won't matter if it does short... otherwise, best to fuse the HV secondary (1/8A slo-blo or similar), just in case. The '40s radio repairman's trick was to solder a pair of #47 bulbs in series as fuses.

- thank you for the head-up, so other than 6X5G & 84 what other rectifiers tend to short the cathode and filament (NT) - 6BQ5 18:22:21 09/20/04 (0)
