Checked the heater voltage and it measured 24.4 volts DC. That's 12.2 volts for each 12AX7 in series. Below the rated 12.6 volts. I am going to follow Russ57's suggestion and leave the unit as is.
I tried to be as neat as possible, with the intent of giving the new heater supply circuit an appearance resembling the original.
In the picture you can also see the new 100K alps pot.
