When you say "squashed", the VT 60 also didn't invert phase. So this would be the same.You can fix this, if it's a problem by switching you speaker leads + to - and - to +. This will invert the phase back but I don't think that is your issue. The VT 60 does have fatter less controlled bass. Two other friends of mine owned VT 60's and switched to 50's and the bass was much tighter and more powerful in all cases with the 50.I am checking into the input/driver tube issue a bit more.
