You wouldn't go wrong with either of the three options. I think option 3 is the best, damping the preamp and the amp's input & driver tubes (minimally, the input tubes). I'd consider the DAC tube also, or at least "borrow" one of the dampers from your other tubes to assess the effect. I'd hold off there and see how everything goes. If you should want more movement in the same direction, then damping the output tubes could be icing on the cake. With my system, the result of damping the power tubes varies from one type or brand of tube to another. With some power tubes the difference is slight or none, with others the improvement is quite dramatic. In every case though, the end result is excellent sound.Yes, this is fun. But the real reward comes with forgetting about all this malarky and just enjoying the music.
