I have heard a few of them, under some fairly varied conditions. Different speakers, different room, different linestages.They are in the *very difficult to beat for the money* category. It is a well developed design and if you could get production numbers from ET, I suspect there are a lot of them about.
They are more rare on ebay than Marantz 9's ( originals even ). I doubt you will find much fault with them. I would put acceptable speaker efficiency in the 98-100 dB 1W-1m range. When paired with my EV loaded bass reflex at a few gatherings, it was a lot harder to show the faults of low power. At 96 dB 1W-1m it was quite easy.
Anyway, as a tool of instruction, they are quite good, and on top of everything else, they sound OK.
