Tried about every manufacture 6CA4/EZ81 in my amplifier, but not all. Little difference between tubes, however Sylvania was rather so, so including Golden Lion U709 as it seem to have an issue supplying current to meet demand. I understand the U709 is a super preamp equipment tube. Past results was the Mullard 6CA4 was good and early Raytheon a little better yet.
Received a real new in box Telefunken EZ81 today. (Most Telefunken label were Mullard). Anyways, this tube made a large difference in my amp.
Can't find a spare anywhere in the US. Any leads?
