MM, I would agree on the MC275 but other amps may not be the same. In my 275s I use Tungsol 6550s but the SED Svetlana and EH KT88s both sound very good as the 6550C Svet. Due to the Unity Coupled design and degeneration the MC275 is not that tube picky.Ron-C
