The 302B is the competitor for the 1003DT just so you know. It's too bad you can't listen to both side by side. My dealer carries both lines - In his opinion the ASLs are better units...but that is hear-say.
They do come with a better warranty and more features - are heavier likely because they have better transformers which is the key to a tube amp.
I almost bought a 202a it caught fire and had been repaired which was why i was interested but both times I went into listen it failed. The foirst time it would not turn on - and the second it was horribly distorted like a poor FM reception - driving the CDM 1NTs
The new 1003 has a remote and subwoofer out - the old one was well reviewed by UHF magazine.
If you want to be sure you have bass why not buy a tube preamp and used Rotel Power amp? Power amps are extremeley safe used purchases and a good tube pre can be better then the pre in the integrated's.
Audio Note makes a tube preamp under $700.00 and you can proably get a used Rotel or other power amp under $300.00 --This is a combo I'm considering myself using my Sugden integrated as a power amp --have not listened yet though.
