Sounds to me like you have a pretty good handle on those tubes that you aren't using. The EF86 is widely used as a voltage gain stage...I think it's the standard for Mullard 5-20 circuits.Duncan's site used to list schematics that used the tube you were asking about. Don't know why it changed as I too found it very usefull information. Wish I had a website to tell you about.
