That is a good question! I have both older American Dynaco, and brand new Dared (Chinese) amps. They both are very good. I believe the newer Chinese amps sound more modern, that is, better parts and tighter sound than a Dynaco for example. That being said, I would say both are equal in quality. Where one wins and the other is less so, the opposte can be true in other areas. The one advantage to a newer Chinese amp is reliability. The reason I say that is, if you are looking a t a 40+ year old amp, capacitors and resistors are getting to the end of theier life and failure can be at any time.
