6AW6, if I remember correctly, is a close sub for 6HS6 regarding transconductance, but pins 2 & 7 are reversed. Most circuits ground pins 2 & 7.I would only use 6HS6. NOS is available for $15-$20. It is a tube that one should purchase some spares if you plan to keep the gear for many years.
