MS,You can buy either JJ E34L's or St Peterburg's made Svetlana EL34 for a lot less than the Rubies. Ruby Tubes are good tubes, but are really just "selected & tested" Russian or Chinese tubes.
There are some good dealers on the Net selling my favorite Marshall EL34 tube, the JJ E34L. You must bias them a bit on the hot side---but when done right, you've got that great AC/DC tone.
