"The problem I am not overcoming is that the Revox-tape head preamp section itself is well built, but the noises of the 3 motors are audible in the listening signal, what makes me crazy."A noisy capstan motor indicates a bearing or shaft problem caused by wear. The G36 is a very high quality product. Why not try to solve the problem at the source and have your G36 refurbished ?
The G36 was used in the landmark recording "Jazz at the Pawnshop". And Propius is known for not using Dolby or other so call noise reducer. Opus 3 have also a G36 recording machine.
There is no doubt that a good service center can help.
What kind of tapes are you using ? Charles King in GA 0/88 "Greening the Revox G36" reported "that certain tapes, especially those with Mylar backing, seem to excite the little piece of steel -spring steel, riveted at one end to a stationary post- into a resonant condition, causing this intolerable singing, which is transmitted to the tape and picked up by the playback head"
