Hi Bambi:Thanks for your detailed explanation, it really helps me. From what I have research so far, I know SP3 is a good piece of gear and it had rave reviews about it, Audio Research is offering an upgrade for $995.00 (just don't have that kind of money now!); I didn't have much information about the D76 though. You're right, I better not turn the power amp on again now until I found someone who can fix it. I think I can spare the most about $500.00 for the repair cost at the moment; beyond that, I will probably need to wait for a while before I can do anything with the D76. I wonder if that is sufficient for the repair. I need to call Gary and Audio Research.
I live in South Pasadena, Culver City is a bit far but it is still a manageble travel distance. I listen to classical, Jazz, and classic rock mainly.
