Okay cool. But did you...

...did you actually compare these things (more expensive than you make them sound when one starts counting tubes!) against the simple silicone rings sold for the same purpose?

Did you try them on both signal and power tubes? And between those smaller and larger tubes, did you notice a more distinct benefit using the dampers on one v. the other? At what point in the chain (amp, pre, phono stage) was there the clearest improvement? In other words, if you only had two of these things, where would you fit them?

I'm using basic rings now on my 9-pins only. These are excellent OS valves that didn't have an issue with microphonics (that I could tell, anyway) in the first place. However I reckon dampers can't hurt, might even help and I'm way open to the Herbie's products (was pondering the "buy" button on their web site just yesterday), but I've yet to be convinced on the 8-to-1 price hike over generic o-rings.
