I used one as a level meter in my amp (pic at the link below) with 250V on the plate and with just a few caps and resistors, very easy to wire up. Powered from the left speaker terminal. You can even use one as a preamp tube! (don't know how it would sound tho.They are pretty easy to come by, you can buy new russian ones that are probably better than the NOS ones (they tend to fade after a while.)
It blinks quite nicely, and always gets a reaction from people!
