Re: Audio Note Japan at the UK HiFi Show....

Hansen,

Having read Thorsten's post, I returned to the show earlier today (Sunday 26th) and made a B?line for the KondoSan room.

The system playing was an M100 pre-amp and vinyl (until I requested a cd to be played): M100 DAC/Diachrono transport through an amp that I mistook for a Kegon - but was then informed (and I'm sure I caught this right/I don't know much about valves) that it was a Kondo AN '2A3' (all of 7 watts) gripping a pair of B&W Nautalus 802's.

I was intially dismissive of the 802's and the general 'background' sound... but after more than three quarters of an hour I er, humbly muttered my thanks to Mr Kondo and, hugging close to the walls to steady myself... stumbled out of the small, impersonal hotel room with - and er, Hansen, you must'nt whisper this to a soul - ahem, moist eyes...

I KondoSan signature; fluid tonal purity with detail and dynamic shadings which made my beloved 'ol Krell KSA250 sound dull, flat and as dead as a smoked Arbrothie, were all there in abandance.

The Kondo 2A3 amp (and system) that I heard in London today, was music and I also came away impressed with B&W's Nautalus 802... not bad for a box in a small hotel room.
