IMHO basically any US made NOS 12AU7 from the 50s sounds great. For EL-84 trash those Sovtek and get something like Brimar/Mullard EL-84 (has to be real UK made and not those labelled "foreign made" ones). Stick them in and warm them up for 30~50hrs. You'll be surprised.Provided that your amp uses good quality parts and components the outcome will be stunning!
