Jack:I do wonder, given Riccardo Kron's penchant for tinkering to improve a given tube, whether the KR2A3 is "exactly" the same "electrically" as older 2A3s.
It's kinda like the 12AX7/5751 story. A 5751 is not an exact drop in replacement for a 12AX7. I happened to meet (on the telephone) the person who designed the 5751, through Hickok some years ago. He claimed that the 5751 was never intended to be a direct replacement for a 12AX7, but RCA decided to market and sell it that way.
Have you checked that at all --which could certainly account for some of your findings.
