I can vouch for the sound of the Joule Electra VZN-80 OTL. Once you've heard this style of amp, nothing seems as clear and transparent. Yes, the Joule can be a little quirky, so I don't use it in an environment in which other users might feel intimidated just by turning it on! Do not expect to hear much of that narcotic tube bloom in an OTL; the music just sounds quick and unblemished. My personal goal is someday to own an Atma-sphere and a Transcendent OTL along with the Joule, and then get my jollies by switching back and forth among them. When and if that happens, I guess I'll be a candidate for re-hab.
