I have noticed some differences in the internal design between some Sovtek tubes. For one thing, the getter ring has recently been replaced by two saucers. I'm talking about the comparison of like designs though and the difference was really noticable. The sound was clearer and very balanced which led to better imaging and focus. Definitely worth the extra $.
